Got questions? We’ve got answers!
Find everything you need to know about renting and riding our e-bikes in Phuket.
Why are our bikes not allowed in the Patong area?
Patong has very heavy traffic, steep roads, and a driving style that can be challenging for visitors who are not familiar with local conditions. For safety reasons, we have decided not to authorize the use of our electric bikes in this area. Patong is also primarily a nightlife and entertainment district, with a strong focus on parties and late-night activities, which does not provide the safest environment for our customers or for the protection of our bikes. Our priority is to ensure a relaxed and secure riding experience.

Yes, you can. We even recommend charging the battery indoors, especially in your hotel room.
Avoid plugging the bike directly into an extension cord, always remove the battery and charge it separately, using the official Sawadeebike charger only.
Once plugged in, the charger will emit a light red LED during charging.
Battery fully charged : the light turns green.
You’ll also hear a soft ventilation sound coming from the charger, this is completely normal and confirms the battery is charging.
A full charge takes about 4 to 5 hours.

Can I legally drive an electric bicycle in Thailand?
The bicycles operated by Sawadeebike are pedal-assist electric bicycles, characterized by the following essential features:
• They are equipped with fully functional pedals
• They are primarily propelled by human power
• The electric motor operates exclusively as pedal assistance
• The motor cannot function independently without pedaling
• There is no throttle or autonomous motor propulsion
As such, human propulsion is permanent and structurally central to the operation of these bicycles, and the electric motor only provides auxiliary assistance.
Under Section 4 of the Road Traffic Act B.E. 2522 (1979), a bicycle is defined as “a vehicle driven by human power.”
Pedal-assist electric bicycles fall within this definition, as the presence of an assistive motor does not replace human propulsion.
These vehicles do not meet the definition of a motorcycle under the Motor Vehicle Act B.E. 2522, as they are not designed for exclusive motor propulsion and are not subject to registration or licensing requirements applicable to motor vehicles.
These bicycles are used to promote safe, low-speed, and environmentally responsible mobility in tourism areas.
All users are explicitly instructed to comply strictly with Thai traffic laws and local safety regulations.
What is the battery range?
The range depends on your usage mode.
Factors like hills, rider weight, and assist mode can affect range.
🔋 On average: 50 km per charge
(Phuket is approximately 50 km long and 20 km wide).
🔌 Charging time: about 4 to 5 hours, ideal for overnight charging.
